Sunday kicked off the first Creekside festival by the Emerald Corridor Foundation on Proctor Creek near the Bankhead MARTA station. While scattered thunderstorms had participants huddled under tents, breaks in the weather gave them a chance to explore the first stages of the Proctor Creek Greenway. It also showed how stormwater causes erosion that muddies up the creek – something the Emerald Corridor hopes to combat with various environmental strategies along the Greenway. Also on hand were local resources such as StoryCorps, Greening Youth Foundation, Covenant House, Habitat for Humanity, Chattahoochee Nature Center and Ecological Solutions. The lead sponsor of the festival was Chick-fil-A with Atlanta Community Food Bank, Metro Atlanta YMCA, Georgia Tech, Atlantic Capital Bank, McGuire Woods, B+C Studio, Northwest Atlanta Land Fund, Walmart, Outdoor Expressions and Bank of North Georgia.
